Tonnage Plates for Yacht Registration
As well as providing tonnage surveys we also manufacture and supply tonnage plates for yachts.
Tonnage plates have to be installed inside the vessel as part of the Carving and Marking stage of the yacht registration process.
The information to be displayed on a tonnage plate varies from registry to registry but will usually include the yacht’s official registration number and tonnage.
The tonnage plate stems from the need for a ship’s official number and tonnage to be the permanently marked inside the vessel so that its identity could be established throughout its life.
Historically the official number and tonnage would be carved into the ship’s main beam or other permanent part of the vessel’s structure either by cutting in, centre punching or raised lettering.
Today yachts are usually marked by engraving on plates of metal, (i.e. brass), wood or plastic that are affixed either to the main beam to an accessible permanent internal part of the vessel’s structure (i.e. inside the vessel and below the main deck).
TonnageSurvey.com can manufacture tonnage plates usually the same working day and organise despatch by courier world-wide.
We charge GBP £30.00 for a tonnage plate made in black plastic with white engraving plus courier charges and we quote on a bespoke basis for custom orders made from metal or wood.
To order a tonnage plate please send an email to email@example.com with your requirements.
